Horace Pearce was born at Hadley Lodge, Shropshire on 21 November 1838. A quiet man with a general scientific interest he was Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, the Geological Society, and the Linnean Society, member of the Swiss Alpine Club, the Bimingham Naturalist Soc., and of the Worcestershire Naturalists' Field Club of which he was a president. He died on 19 February 1900 at his home at The Limes, Stourbridge.

Moses and Geology or The Harmony of the Bible with Science is a book written by Samuel Kinns. The book explores the relationship between the Bible and the science of geology. Kinns argues that the Bible and scientific discoveries can coexist and even complement each other. He uses the example of Moses, who he believes had a deep understanding of the natural world and its processes. Kinns also discusses how geology can help us better understand the Bible and its teachings. The book is a fascinating exploration of the intersection between religion and science and will appeal to anyone interested in the history of ideas and the relationship between faith and reason.
